Earlier today I questioned what they were doing at the 7th Street Grille turning over “pro Penguin propaganda” to make a few Capital players comfortable while dining there late afternoon yesterday on word from an article in the Washington Post – “Two Games, Two Nights,“. So this afternoon our new PenguinPoop reporter Champ Kind stopped in to find out what really went on.
3 Capitals players stopped by for a late lunch and when the bartender asked them how they were doing they said they were pretty tired they just played the Pens last night. She replied “yeah that was a pretty intense game last night” and the conversation turned to how good the buffalo chicken dip was (which by the way is incredible) when one of them spotted a sign behind the bar that read “Hottest Team On Ice” and asked the bartender to write Capitals underneath it.
She said no, laughing it off and walked over and turned it around. This sign was not a Penguin sign at all it just read “Hottest Team on Ice”, apparently when Brian Pothier was over at the Renaissance later in the evening bragging about how they got a person in a bar to turn around a “Pro Penguin” sign he must of just assumed that the “Hottest Team on Ice” was the Pittsburgh Penguins. Which goes without saying.
7th Street Grille manager Terry Boes, a Penguin season ticket holder, today commented that he expressed his concern that his bar was being judged unfairly by some unsubstantiated rumor, and wanted to set the record straight that the 7th street Grille proudly supports the Pens.
While Champ Kind was talking to the 7th Street Grille manager Terry Boes, another patron then joined in the conversation that has a connection with the Caps and was staying at the Renaissance also, confirmed that these 3 players were bragging at the hotel last night about how they got a Pittsburgh Bar to take down their Penguin signs.
Thankfully I will not have to travel to DC to get my General Tso’s Tuna or Buffalo Chicken Dip, and maybe they can answer for me why everybody I know calls them the “7th Street Grille” when they are the “Grille on 7th”
Much Thanks to new PenguinPoop reporter Champ Kind.
KULT – I just went to emptynetters and did not see that picture anywhere. that Seth Rogaine guy is a huge capitals fan / ovechkin lover anyway.
Whether the story of the Capitals are true or not who knows for sure. This same resturant was pictured in Empty Netters with a “Flyer Fans Welcome” sign sporting their establishment. In my humble opinion you can put their buffalo chicken dip where the sun doesn’t shine. The manager is probably from Buffalo anyways!
What out that CHAMP KIND doesn’t have hidden feeling’s for you!
Good reporting, however. I checked this dude’s blog and they have posters taking shots like, “I am so happy to see that not all Pittsburgh residents are as bad as some of their delusional and Life Threatening blog mates.”
I think CHAMP KIND found out who is ‘really’ delusional.
Along with that post they are up in arms that a YANI concert is scheduled in the Mellon Ball causing the back-to-back games. I thought YANI was dead!
A ‘BOG’ is a wet spongy ground-Dan Steinberg’s D.C. Sports BOG appears to be just that. He need’s to investigate before reporting hear say from Brian Pothier who’s brain has been mush for over a year.
