Everyone has had fresh haircuts and been shaved clean for the annual team photos and the Fishsticks are coming off a humiliating event the other night.
I’m not referring to them extending Doug Weight’s (no points in 6 games since returning from IR) contract! Losing a game 9 to ZIP is…
par for the course for this team. If this was the Penguins and we gave up 9 goals everyone would be claiming we TANKED. Yet, while giving up the 9 goals the Fishstiacks only got 12 shots on Cam Ward. That is a pretty obvious TANK in my humble opinion.
The Garth Snow/Charley Wang management team
is an incompetent as it gets and the signing of Doug Weight to a contract extension looks like these guys are not satisfied with this year’s pick but will be a frontrunner for the 2010 pick as well.
This kid reps most Islander fans.
Giving 15-year contracts to a band-aid player like Rick DiPietro who’s played all of 5-games this year and having a roster with little depth they fallen apart piece by piece and have earned the NHL’s lowest point total.
While the NHL and the local media play this out as an important game…
frankly it doesn’t mean a bag of beans to anyone but John Tavares who at least has indicated he won’t pull a Lindros stunt if the Fishsticks draft him.
The NY Islanders can cinch the worst points title tonight and therefore will have a 48.2% chance of winning the first pick overall and a 100% chance of getting nothing less than the second overall pick.
Mathieu Garon starting is goal is a clear indication of our Flightless Birdies going through the motions and our hope is no one gets hurt . As it’s shaping up to be the Washington Ovechkin’s in the playoffs.
After (we deservingly) got on Petr Sykora it was nice to see the 300th goal especially crashing the net and will also make note that 10 of his 25 goals this season have been GWG’s. The Penguins won 6-4 and Sidney Crosby has two goals… but ends up the night a minus four? YIKES.
Side Note info… The Belleville Bulls take 3-1 series lead with 5-2 victory in Niagara and Captain, Eric Tangradi leads the way with 4 goals and 5
points. This kid has a chance to bypass WB/S next season directly to a wing for Malkin, Crosby or Staal. To see a little of Tangradi try this: The Tangradi Highlites
For those who care… the race for the last playoff spots shape up like this:
EAST
8. NYRAGS 91 (2GR)
9. FLORIDA 89 (2GR)
WEST
7. DUCKS 88 (2GR)
8. BLUES 88 (2GR)
9. PREDS 86 (2GR)
10. WILD 85 (2GR)
Let’s get this stuff over with ASAP and get on with the big show.
This is DR Hook… carry on
The CupSeeker is the Bruins number one poster fan for his team, but don`t let that fool you. He knows that deep down inside his Bruins are not Stanley Cup material. With all the years he`s been following Bruins hockey, the CupSeeker has been doing just what his username say`s, he`s been seeking the cup. Keep seeking SeekACup. You have too many youngsters without playoff experience and you only have Timmy Thomas to depend on, with no evidence he can win in the playoff`s. IMO, too many if`s. No superstar players and what`s you going to do when Crosby, Malkin and Staal`s lines are all coming down on you?
The Bruins are mighty in the standings but all those wins won’t translate to a Stanley Cup parade in Boston. Anyhow, they can’t remember the parade route!
If the San Jose Sharks get there and Boston too it would be interesting how Joe Thornton would fare. Personally I don’t think Boston is physical enough to come out of the East. Recchi, Bergeron, Kessel, Ryder, Krejci,Kobasew—- the season is already taking it’s toll on them.
Blah Blah Blah,…Cheezy C,mon…..Stop all that Chiarelli jealousy already….When he wins GM of the year….You can bridge jump off one of those three river bridges..Has GUERIN finally gotten a goal I see ???…Kunits has Kuuled off abit also…Three years and Shero is diggin himself out of the HOSSA mess while CHIA has taken a bottom feeder to 114 point all around monster of a team…You wont get it till june when Gary Bettman says……ZDENO CHARA…Come and get the STANLEY CUP….
@ cupseeker09
Absolutely . . . you see “SEEK” we’ve actually made that trip to the 2nd less than a year ago. For your sake – Boston (it’s the law of averages)the (hidden vigorish) the more you play Montreal the better chance you have of beating them!
Boston never learns . . . next season Rask will be the better goalie and Thomas will be making all that money.
Shero chose Pittsburgh over Boston because of the better chance to win the Stanley Cup! That Chiarelli was a your second or third choice however. Has Phil the Thrill Kessel registered a hit this year?
@ cupseeker09
“Cheezed” into the playoffs? The Hurricanes and the Penguins are teams the others fear the most right now.
Forfgetting the fact that you finally Cheezed in to the playoffs….Have you thought about the possibility of whats down the line if you happen to win a series…..???
Revenge is a dish best served cold……..
Jordan Staal….Still only 20 years old….amazing, What will this kid look like at 22 or 25….
Very classey moment of silence before the game, and how about the standing “O” for the Pittsburgh Police Color Gaurd….
It becomes more apparent every day….Pittsburgh is a special place….I’ve never needed a pole to tell me that.
To throw in an added extra here . . . Jordan Staal is turning into a super center and all-around player. Crosby – Malkin – Staal three very talented offensive centers who played the game very well defensively and with the passion of a grinder. We are some very lucky and blessed hockey fans to see what’s been wearing the Flightless Birdie sweaters in the Mellon Ball Arena over the last two decades. It’s no wonder the hockey media and our opponents fans take so many shots.
We are Bettman’s special children and as many know the games are fixed! Watch for Crosby breaking Darryl Sittler’s ten-point game tonight and bypasses both Malkin and Ovechnik! WooHoo.
Bylsma needs to give Malkin extra playing time to secure that Art Ross trophy, it’s Penguin tradition.
