I would have bet that the return of Talbot alone would have been enough to energize the Penguins to a strong showing against the Senators tonight. With the enthusiasm and energy with which Talbot plays coming back into the line-up, one would think that the other players may feed off of that. Throw in the return of Gonchar and I am thinking that there is no way the Sens could beat the Pens…….Man, was I wrong.
What happened tonight? It defies logic that the Pens could play so poorly with what should have been a tremendous emotional boost. I understand that they are still missing a large part of their starting roster, but come on! They just put together a couple of nice wins without Mad Max and Sarge.
Notes:
- The Pens did actually muster up a power play goal tonight….wahoo!
- Someone needs to explain the whole Chris Bourque thing to me. I really don’t understand why this guy is on the team let alone getting a chance to play on the second power play. You can’t tell me there is not someone more deserving of PP time on the current roster, say for example Mike Rupp or Matt Cooke. This kid has shown me nothing that would suggest that he should be on the roster.
Here is looking forward to some better outings in the near future.
