Malkin stands up in the locker room between the second and third period and rips the team a new a-hole. Malkin (not Crosby) gives the pep-talk? maybe this is what they really needed. He gets the Therrien ?floating A? permanently? puts on a show at the All Star game? and last night in front of Steeler?s in attendance single handedly put the team on his shoulders and puts on a show that will be remembered for a long while.
It will be remembered a lot longer if it actually is a turning point, however.
What he said was that they had to find a way to take THIS GAME and that there are no more excuses for anything but winning THIS GAME. He?s learning the language and is starting to assert himself and live up to a few of those Russian scouts who projected him as good as Ovechkin and that in the long run may be the best pick in the 2004 Entry Draft.
Malkin is showing the hockey world that it?s not all about Crosby and Ovechkin. Malkin is a solid two-way hockey player and is arguably the best player in the NHL right now. This kid single-handedly willed the Flightless Birdies to a win. He is stepping up to the plate ? shades of you know who? this kid?s ONLY weakness is on face-offs and you just know that?s going to come around.
