Markus Naslund Retiring at 35?

According to the New York Post – 35 year old, 1st round Penguin draft pick Markus Naslund is retiring.  The New York Rangers signed Naslund last year to a 2 season $8 Million dollar contract, but his low production of 24 goals and 46 overall points has had the New York fans and media all over him for the bulk of the year.

If Naslund retires he finishes with 395 goals, 474 assists and 869 points in 1,117 games, not including playoffs. He is also the Vancouver Canucks all time leader in goals and points.  Since Naslund is only 35 years old, I would not be surprised to see him take a year off from the NHL and play in Sweden, then return to the NHL in a year and play as far away from New York and their media as he can get.
