Remember where you heard this first? Alexander Ovechkin has signed a contract with the Harlem Globetrotters. In a private PenguinPOOP exclusive interview with Globetrotter GM and President, Nickolas Cardinale, the major hurtle getting Ovechkin?to sign on the dotted line was his want for the nickname ?Showboat? which has already been taken by icon Robert ?Showboat? Hall. Cardinale refused to give that name up. Ovechkin then asked for ?Showtime? but that was taken by Paul ?Showtime? Gaffney. Finally, Cardinale recommended ?BIG SHOT??… and there it was Alex ?BIG SHOT? Ovechkin.
The Globetrotter contract does not go into play until after his present $124 million expires but Ovechkin is already fired-up and looking forward to the experience. While whistling his version of Brother Bones? Sweet Georgia Brown… ?BIG SHOT? Ovechkin said, ?My stick is on fire, my stick is on fire…? you liked that one Nickolas, didn?t you!?
In other news Rick Tocchet has signed a contract that with the same date as ?BIG SHOT? Ovechkin?s , but with the Washington Generals.
In a separate interview we asked Sidney Crosby of his reaction to the Globetrotter signing and Ovechkin?s obvious choreographed dance around his stick. Crosby responded (on the record): ?I didn?t see it.? (Off the record): ?He stands a good chance that he will be remembered more as a jackass.?
This is DR Hook… carry on
Wow… The Ovechkin envy here is even more prevalent than on the AOL boards… Too freakin funny!!
Is A.O. a showboat? Yep, he sure is, and has become one of the most popular players in the NHL in doing so… He’s also an exceedingly gifted hockey player… There has never been any malicious intent in his celebrations, and he’s made that perfectly clear (in broken english) in countless interviews…
As for Brind’Amours forearm, it didn’t bother A.O. too much at all, which is why nothing was done…
Lets get these last games done injury free and hit the playoffs… It’s a great time of year to be a hockey fan!!!!! 😉
Ovechkin got a taste of the too HOT too TOUCH forearm by Brind’Amour last night and the Capitals didn’t do anything. Capitals, Boston, Montreal, Florida, Buffalo don’t appear to want it that much. The Flyers, Devils, Rangers and our Pens are the toughest teams right now. This Atlantic Division is tough.
Here what Mckenna said after alex “i can’t pass” ovechkin’s celebration “I appreciate guys who play the game hard and are humble. (ovechkin’s celebration) is not something I’ve ever seen at the NHL level, I can say that.”
When he said NHL level, he meant the maturity level of an NHLer as opposed to that of a 5th grader. We all have seen 5th graders do that.
alex “maturity level of a 5th grader” ovechkin
I knew it! LOL.
