The Pens, featuring about 2/3 of their starting lineup, lost tonight in Montreal. Both Crosby and Malkin played as well as the likes of Gonchar, Guerin and Kunitz. It seems like maybe the roster has been pretty much decided. Simon Despres did play again despite the fact that he will be returned to the Juniors. Again, management is taking a long look at this kid.
Despres did look better last night. He seemed a bit less hesitant, though not %100 comfortable.
Tangradi did make some nice plays, but did not stand out as much as I had hoped.
John Curry played the whole game in net. For the most part, he looked decent.
The Pens had Engelland and Lovejoy paired up most of the night. This is probably a head to head competition for the last d-man position. Lovejoy, I think, has to be clearly winning this battle…if it is a battle.
Let’s see what happens tomorrow night against Toronto.
