At 7:02 P.M. on Tuesday night, STH35 received a text message from Got Malkin. It simply read, “Fleury – Shutout”. The result wasn’t exact, but it was a good prophecy on who the star of the game would be. This is the same person who called me before the Steelers’ fifth Super Bowl win and said, “Willie Parker is going to set a Super Bowl record for the longest touchdown run in Super Bowl history.” And way back when he was a six-year-old, the night of Stanley Cup victory number one, he drew a picture of the Stanley Cup and put six numbers on it. All six of those players scored goals in the Pens victory that night. Uncle Phil and Jerry were thrown into the pool, then off to the airport. I can’t wait to see what he tells me before game five!
Mark Andre Fleury won game four for the Pens. There is really not much else to say. Some of the saves were mind-boggling. Let’s hope he doesn’t have to carry the team again on Thursday, but it’s good to know that he can if necessary. So what must the team do to win as a group and wrap up this series? Stay out of the penalty box. The Flyers generate so much offense on their power play (sixth overall this season) that it also carries over some momentum into their five-on-five play. Keep it SIMPLE. Zone to zone hockey with as few mistakes as possible. Pressure the Flyer defense when in the attacking zone. Score an early power play goal. We saw the effect that had in game one, and it would be a big boost again. Like we’ve said from the start, PENS IN FIVE! That’s the view from E-11.
