The Colorado Avalanche have traded Wojtek Wolski to the Phoenix Coyotes for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter.
Mueller had really fallen out of favor with Phoenix management lately with an attitude that seemed to say, “I’m not really sure I want to play hockey” Had he not had to clear waivers, he surely would have been sent down to San Antonio weeks ago. Wolski, on the other hand has been having a fantastic season with the Avalanche having scored 47 points in 62 games. The Coyotes also threw in one of their top offensive prospects, Kevin Porter. All 3 players will be RFA’s this Summer with Wolski having the best chance to cash in on a new deal. The two Coyote players salaries are combined less than what Wolski was making now, and with the youth movement currently underway, and working very well I might add, in Colorado, perhaps it is the thinking of management that Joe Sacco can find a way to get the most out of the former 8th overall pick ‘s(Mueller) talent.
This is a deal that should benefit both teams in the long run giving Phoenix a proven player who can score and giving Colorado two more talented young players to continue with what they’ve got going now
