James Neal was viciously slashed by NY Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic during a Penguins 5 on 3 powerplay in the second period of Wednesday night’s playoff game.  While it is being speculated that Neal had a lower body injury after a clean check by Hamonic, you can clearly see in the first video that it is Neal’s right hand that is being checked on the bench. Neal went to the locker room immediately afterwards and did not return.

Neal has scored more goals than any other Penguins player over the last two seasons.

  1. Hand was the first thing I noticed in real time as well but all signs point to it being a lower body injury (possibly knee or high ankle) that may keep him out for a while. He was seen limping out of Consol yesterday.

  2. Adam Graves still can’t show his face in Pittsburgh after what he did to Mario, but it worked out for the Pens in that season.

    1. Why would a stand up guy like Adam Graves be forced to spend any time in that sh–hole (Pittsburgh). Was he convicted of having too much class and forced to “Show his face” in that dump as his sentence?

  3. Wow. Good spot. Hope it is just bruised. He looked shaky getting up but seemed to skate it off. He also looked a little out of it on the bench. Hopefully he doesn’t have that concussion thing return.

  4. There was a point at the end of the second when Murray and Hamonic were chirping at each other, and I’m pretty sure Murray told the refs to get Hamonic under control or he was going to kill him in the third. Watching that hateful relationship blossom is going to be epic, especially if Neal’s injury proves to be that hand.
