The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins continue to impress under new coach Mike Sullivan. Including games played through Saturday, November 28, the Baby Pens lead the Atlantic Division with a sterling 16-2-0 record—good for an AHL-best 32 points. They’ve scored 72 goals (third most in the league) and allowed the fewest (37).
Rookie Dominik Simon and Conor Sheary top the Baby Pens with 19 points. Scott Wilson has 18. Six players are on pace for 20-plus goals, including Wilson (11), Simon (8), Jean-Sebastien Dea (7), Kael Mouillierat and Carter Rowney (6 each), and rookie Oskar Sundqvist (5). The diminutive Sheary leads in assists (16).
Derrick Pouliot paces the defense in goals (4), assists (10), and points (14). The Saskatchewan native is tied with Rowney in plus/minus (plus-11). Swedish defenseman Niclas Andersen is close behind at plus-10. Rugged Steve Oleksy has the edge in PIM (35).
Second-year pro Matt Murray and rookie Tristan Jarry have matching 1.94 goals-against averages. Murray tops the pair in wins (10) and shutouts (3).
