Penguins Recall O’Connor

In the wake of a lower-body injury to Jeff Carter, the Penguins have recalled forward Drew O’Connor from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The 6’3” 200-pounder, who can play left wing and center, will likely be slotted in Carter’s spot between Danton Heinen and Kasperi Kapanen on the third line.

O’Connor’s averaged nearly a point per game with the Baby Pens, tallying 57 points in 60 career AHL games. This season he’s recorded two goals and six points in eight games.

With the Pens? The 24-year-old’s notched three goals and six points in 32 games spread over two seasons, including a two-goal game against Toronto.

Drake Caggiula was assigned to the Baby Pens in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old left wing had five hits and was a minus-1 in three games while seeing limited duty on the fourth line.

Just finished watching the Pens / Bruins game. I will go on record as saying our Defense is not only horrible
but we have zero impact physically. Jarry wasn't good and our passing for an experience team is
    pathetic to say the least.
Also, it's tough to watch teams as they continue to run over our goalie without any and I mean any
consequences "pitiful". Then I have to listen to Sullivan talk about if the refs aren't calling it then our guys
will react. Give me a break. This is really getting hard to watch.

    • Hey Mike,

Agreed, it is getting extremely hard to watch all of the Scut Farkases of the NHL beating up on our Pittsburgh Flicks. The only reaction our Filcks have to the bullying tactics of the league is to lay there like slugs and channel their their inner Randy.

What is tougher than listening to Sully say "if the refs aren't calling it then our guys will react" is the "next man up" mantra. First, we out hit the Bruins 48 to 38 but our 48 hits were like gnat bites coming from the stalks of wheat dressed up in Penguin sweaters and blowing in the autumn breeze. Our team isn't even heavy enough to be light flyweight, let alone Bantam or Welter weight. It is beyond hysterical when our court jester Sullivan drops the punch line that any of our players play a heavy game.

Then to hear someone spew the "Next Man Up" mantra reminds me of the Dylan tune "Blowin' in the Wind"

"How many man-games lost can a team sustain
      before they get some sand?
How many concussions do they have to suffer,
before they get the guts to take a stand?"

Okay, so that may be a bit extreme, but you get the point!

I don't dislike O'Connor but I would like to see the Pens take a look at some of there other players that haven't
had the opportunity to play in the NHL. GO PENS
