As anticipated, the Penguins have placed defenseman Mark Friedman on waivers. Other teams around the league have until 2 p.m. Sunday to make a claim. If the feisty defenseman passes through waivers unclaimed, the Pens can assign him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
I’ve offered my thoughts on the subject in an article posted back on September 23.
Oh, and Calgary placed Radim Zohorna on waivers a mere five days after claiming him. In two preseason games with the Flames, “Big Z” picked up a primary assist and was on the ice for one goal for and one against 5v5.
If no other team claims the Czechia native, the Pens have the option of bringing Zohorna back and assigning him to the Baby Pens without exposing him to waivers.
