According to sources, the Penguins have hired former Toronto general manager Kyle Dubas to serve as their new President of Hockey Operations, replacing Brian Burke.
Considered one of the bright young minds in hockey, Dubas, 37, served as the Maple Leafs’ GM for the past five seasons and was credited with building a strong if underachieving team.
More to come.

Hey Rick
Not patting myself on the back but I think I mentioined that it could be Dubas
for President of Basketball Operations and one of the other candidates for
the GM position. I do think he was looking to gain more power on all decisions.
This is great news Rick. It will be interesting to see just what his responsibilities will entail.. I cannot imagine him having a ceremonial position without any real authority like Burke . It was rumored in one of the Toronto media reports that the owners of the Fenway group said he would report to them directly. That was one of the problems he had in Toronto with the ownership structure all trying to tell him what to do..
He will have full autonomy over the GM, the various coaches and the composition of the team.
For me that is a step forward in the right direction.

Hey Rick
I just saw an article saying that Dubas will also be acting interim General Manager for the next month or so and he will lock after the 2023 draft, signing the free agents needed, and then next month HE WILL CHOOSE the next General Manager.
Looks like i got my answer and the reports out of Toronto were correct. He is in charge reporting directly to the Fenway bosses. I like it...
With regards to resigning Crosby he said Sid wants to win and most likely we will have those discussions next season. ...
Another great answer....
Cheers
Jim
Hey Rick,
With Dubas here and Matthews UFA next summer, lets hope Jim turns out to be prophetic. Let's hope our Pens clear enough Cap space between now and then to go after Matthews.
