The Penguins have recalled forwards Rutger McGroarty and Boko Imama from their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm club ahead of tonight’s Metro clash with the Flyers.
A 21-year-old power forward and former first-round pick, McGroarty’s tallied four goals and seven points in five games with the Baby Pens.
With three goals and four points in his last 11 games, Imama, a 29-year-old heavyweight, has been on a bit of a tear as well.
Personally, I’d love to see Boko slot in on the fourth line in place of the larger but more vanilla Joona Koppanen. I think he and buzz-saws Connor Dewar and Blake Lizotte could make for a difficult combination to play against.
As for McGroarty? He could realistically slot in anywhere in the top nine, with a spot next to fellow rookies Ben Kindel and Ville Koivunen the most likely starting assignment.
I think both call-ups could provide a badly needed boost of adrenalin.
