The Penguins have signed a Robertson (the Nicholas variety) to a two-year deal with an AAV of $3.25 million. A tidy increase over the $1.825 million the Pasadena native pulled down for the Maple Leafs last season, when he posted career-bests across the board of 16 goals, 16 assists and 32 points.
It’s hoped the spunky 24-year-old left wing can improve on those boxcars with the Pens while tapping into the form he displayed in junior, when he ripped home 55 goals in only 46 games for Peterborough in 2019-20.
In other organizational news, the Pens have hired recently deposed Leafs assistant GM Brandon Pridham. A long-time associate of POHO/GM Kyle Dubas, Pridham will serve as hockey operations consultant and is expected to assume many of the duties previously handled by Vukie Mpofu, who recently joined the Predators.
