Well, our beloved team showed the grit and determination they needed to give us fans the ultimate moment in hockey. I just want to wish all the players, coaches and the rest of the organization, congratulations. I would like to thank the team for giving me and the rest of the fans a fantastic ride.
Notes:
- Max Talbot has definitely lived up to his nickname “Superstar”
- I have to look back at Jordan Staal’s shorthanded goal as the pivotal moment in the series….in the season.
- Marc-Andre Fleury was amazing……again. That save at the end of the game was unbelievable. The save, the timing, the emotion and the watching him throw up his hands…hesitate….then throw them up again once he knew for sure the clock had expired all added up to an awesome memory.
- There was nobody more excited to hold that trophy than 38 year old Billy Guerin.
- Jordan Staal was unbelievable cleaning up his own zone last night.
- Congratulations to Malkin for winning the Conn Smythe Award.
- Everybody was awesome!
- What a celebration.
- Why does Bettman have to bring up that the team was in trouble just a few years ago. Why couldn’t he just focus on the moment. He is a tool and a big reason why the NHL cannot grow larger.
- On another sour note, what is up with the Hockeytown faithful booing as the Penguins were awarded the Cup? I thought that was incredibly distasteful. I was at game six last year and the Pittsburgh crowd was very respectful and appreciative of the moment.
- What a season! From 10th place in January to winning the Stanley Cup…..F..in awesome!
- It will be interesting to see how personal moves go in the offseason.

Thanks again to the Penguins for a great time. I am looking forward to next season and the hopes of starting a….dare I say…..Dynasty.
I think that no one new that Detroit was as classless as philadelphia because they haven’t lost in a while. I love that the sore loser Lidstrom and co leave then try to blame it on Crosby. Detroit has shown their true colors.
It’s not Lidstrom who’s lodged any complaint. Fact is, Draper never siad that he didn’t shake Crosby’s hand and HE was 2nd in line. Did Lidstrom leave early? Did Crosby just shake 29 of the 30? It’s Kris Draper that’s looks the fool and it’s Kris Draper who ‘probably’ has played his last game and have his roster spot replaced by Helm. What a way to go out for Draper, eh. It sure takes some attention away from the tear-jerker Hossa story.
At first when Bettman came out it was the booing of Bettman. But that booing got even louder and loauder and when Crosby lifted the Cup it was at it’s loudest. Now, Draper is flapping his gums about Crosby not shaking Lidstroms hand. Wow, talk about some poor sportsmanship from the fans right through the players. Draper says Lidstrom was waiting and waiting (which is pretty much cow manure) and that Crosby ignored him. On local Detroit stations they played the Draper quote: “That’s ridiculous, especially as their captain, and make sure you write that I said that!”
What really happened is that the Pens were celebrating and Lidstrom decided to start the line and went into the dressing room pretty fast. I was waiting to get a picture of the two captains shaking hands. It is Lidstrom who decided that he was going to get the handshake over ASAP and head to the showers. You have to laugh at what is supposed to be the Detroit class and composure – maybe that was just a braincramp! Crosby’s reaction was that he didn’t do that and that last year after the Red Wings beat us he didn’t feel like hanging around either . . . but (the difference is)he did.
My view is that although Detroit has all those Stanley Cups and have that aura of total class it’s take only a few jerks to change that image. Draper is a tool and the Detroit fans? They are okay but they are not as classy as the Penguin fans. Maybe they were so pissed at how many Penguin fans were able to secure tickets. Just in case anyone didn’t get the message . . . Pittsburgh was selected once again as the MOST LIVABLE CITY.

My guess would be that he does want the Coyotes to stay in Phoenix. He is using the Penguins success to say that this could happen in Phoenix, too.

Does this honestly surprise you? “Crosby sucks, Crosby sucks!!!” chants in game 5 should have been an indication of how this was to go down. I am sure we will be reading all about player X was hurt, etc. Oh well, that’s the Stanley Cup Playoffs for you. A war of attrition. Looking forward to the offseason to see how the team builds back up.

As much as Bettman would be better to hold all that non-Stanley Cup info for another time. I still can’t figure out why so many fans boo Bettman. I know some of it is because he represents the NHL management and people like to boo management (especially in Detroit, eh) . . . but what do the fans want? To go back to John Ziegler or Gil Stein? Ziegler used to take vacations during the Stanley Cup Finals.
