The real UNTOUCHABLES

To trade or not to trade? that is the question.

Ray Shero says, ?This year is important, everybody needs to know that. So, with anything in terms of improving the team up until the trade deadline, I?m willing to do that.?
Shero talks THE CORE – – Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury, Whitney, and Orpik.? However, he also never ruled out trading a CORE member to solidify the team this season.

If the Salary Cap falls (as rumored)? next season Shero will be forced to move a CORE player.

Ryan Whitney has become the whipping boy by fans, media and the rumor mongers and for that reason alone it?s likely his trade value has decreased.

I think the only real UNTOUCHABLES are Crosby, Malkin and Fleury. I also have thinking if the management group thinks the Salary cap is indeed dropping we might be in for a bit of a surprise sooner than later.

It should be an interesting next 12 days.

This is DR Hook…. carry on

  1. I think the only untouchables are Malkin and Crosby. Staal is a third line center, and no matter what you label Whitney and Orpik they are very tradeable. CORE player, or not. If Feury is indeed a headcase the trade could be for a goalie because you are right – there is no one in the organEYEzation behind him.

  2. The only true untouchable IMO is Crosby and that is simply because the Pittsburgh Hockey Franchaise (read Lemieux) likes having the Face of Hockey. I would truely hate to see Malkin traded (as he is the better player) but think of the return. As far as Fleurey is concerend, which goaltender is he?, the one from mid February of last year through the playoffs or the one that we have seen this year, letting up too many bad rebounds and bad goals. The only reason for Fleury to be untouchable is because there is no one behind him…Cross your finger and hope that he becomes what he was last year…It is the only chance they have of reaching the playoffs
