The Pens made a trade last night, quite unexpectedly. It was not for a winger to help Crosby, but for a goaltender. The Pens dealt Dany Sabourin, Ryan Stone and a 4th round draft pick for Mathieu Garon. Garon, this season has posted a 6-8 record with a 3.17 GAA and a .895 save %. Sabourin is 6-8-2 with a 2.85 GAA and .898 save %.
Garon’s career numbers are much better, but based on the way each netminder is playing now, this seems backwards.
Let’s wait and see what happens.
